Project Overview
The Mission Boulevard Bridge Project is a joint effort by the County of Riverside, the City of Jurupa Valley, and the City of Riverside to replace an aging, seismically deficient bridge over the Santa AnaRiver. This project represents a significant investment in the safety and infrastructure of the region, with improvements that will benefit drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, and equestrians for generations to come.

Why Replace the Bridge?
The existing Mission Boulevard bridge was identified as seismically deficient, meaning it does not meet current earthquake safety standards. At over 70 years old, the structure has reached the end of its useful life and can no longer be brought up to modern safety requirements through repairs alone. A full replacement is necessary to ensure the long-term safety of the crossing for everyone who uses it.

Project Details
The new bridge will be approximately 1,100 feet long and will feature two traffic lanes in each direction, added shoulders, and a raised concrete center median to improve safety for drivers. Along the south side of the bridge, a separated multipurpose trail will provide safe access for pedestrians, cyclists, and equestrians, with a direct connection to the Santa Ana River Trail.

Neighboring Work
The City of Riverside is underway with a median project with planned daytime lane closures east of Carlson Bark Park. For questions and details, please call 311 or use the 311 Riverside app.
